Take Your Dog for a Summer Swim in a Northern Virginia Pool

Check out these three fun doggy swim events.

By Maggie Roth September 4, 2025 at 6:30 am

Labor Day has passed, which means many pools in Northern Virginia have closed to swimmers. But some are opening up the water for furry friends to enjoy a day of splashing around before the pools are drained over the winter. Here are three dog swim events to check out in NoVA this weekend.

Leesburg Annual Dog Swim

September 6

Dogs can visit Leesburg’s AV Symington Aquatic Center for a dip in the pool. There are two sessions: one from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and one form 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dogs must be at least six months old, legally licensed, vaccinated, and wearing a visible dog license. There will be a vet on site. AV Symington Aquatic Center: 80 Ida Lee Dr. NW, Leesburg, $5

Reston Association Dog Paddle

September 6

Visit North Hills Pool in Reston for a puppy pool party. Dogs of all sizes are welcome, but all dogs must be fully vaccinated. There are 75-minute sessions starting at 8:30 a.m. through 3:45 p.m. North Hills Pool: 1325 N. Village Rd., Reston, $15 for Reston Association members, $20 for non-members

Dog Daze at the Water Mine

September 6

The Water Mine, Fairfax County’s water park, will be open to dogs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dogs must be fully vaccinated and each dog needs its own ticket. Water Mine Swimmin’ Hole: 1400 Lake Fairfax Dr., Reston, $15
