After finishing with the second-best record during the NWSL regular season, the Washington Spirit are preparing for their semifinal matchup against the Portland Thorns at Audi Field on Saturday. With the noon kickoff expected to sell out, you might notice a few famous faces in the crowd. Here are nine celebrities with ties to the Spirit.
Georgia Amoore
Luckily for this Washington Mystics rookie (and Virginia Tech graduate), she was already a huge Trinity Rodman fan before moving to DC. Amoore was seen cheering on the team at Audi Field once the Mystics’ season ended.
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd
The duo that led the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team to its 12th national championship also back the yellow and green. Why, you might ask? Azzi Fudd grew up in Arlington before starting her dominant career at UConn.
Jenna Bush Hager and Chelsea Clinton
These former first kids may no longer be located in DC, but that doesn’t mean they have stopped supporting the city. Bush Hager and Clinton are not only Spirit fans, but investors of the NWSL team.
Dominique Dawes
The Olympic gold medalist, who recently opened her first NoVA gym, is also part of the Spirit’s investor group – joining in 2021.
Magic Johnson
Just last fall, the NBA legend added NWSL owner to his already impressive resume when he joined the Washington Spirit ownership group. With the Los Angeles Dodgers winning the World Series in October, you know he’ll be cheering on the team for his second championship of 2025.
Ben Shelton
The No. 5 ranked men’s tennis player has been showing some extra love to the Spirit. When Shelton isn’t at a match, you’ll probably find him on the sidelines supporting girlfriend and Spirit forward Trinity Rodman.
Frances Tiafoe
The tennis star is a known DC sports fanatic. If you can’t find him at a Spirit game, you’ll definitely see him repping the team’s kit.
