Thanks to Spotify Wrapped, you likely know your favorite songs and musicians from the year — but do you know your favorite Metro station? The Metropolitan Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has released its annual Metro Rewind to show riders all the stats from their year in public transportation.
Find Your Report
WMATA released its third annual Metro Rewind last week. Metro users can input the 20-digit card number into the Metro Rewind website for a chance to see a detailed ridership report in a colorful, interactive format. New this year, you can add more than one card. And this year’s version also includes more data and new badges that track “transit-riding achievements.”
The report includes:
- Number of bus and rail trips
- Rides by month
- Your longest streak riding Metro
- Where you rank among all Metro customers
- Miles traveled on transit
- Carbon dioxide emissions saved by taking transit
- Top five Metro rail stations
- How you rank among others who use your top station
- Top five Metro bus routes
- How you rank among others who use your top route
- Your Metro archetype
- Option to buy merch for your top station
DMV Ridership Stats
In addition to personalized stats, WMATA also released the Metro Rewind results for the entire DMV area. Altogether, there were 256,846,000 trips — 142,093,000 by rail and 114,753,000 by bus. WMATA says that Metro ridership increased more than 6 percent year over year.
Metro riders travelled 1,062,962,000 miles in 2025, saving 327,392,000 kilograms of carbon by choosing public transportation over driving or ride-sharing, according to WMATA. The most popular station was Union Station.
April was the busiest month, with 24,868,000 trips; March 27 was the busiest day.
For both the personalized and overall stats, the data was collected from January 1 to December 5. That’s earlier than it’s been released in prior years, so some stats may appear lower, according to WMATA. You can check in after New Year’s Day to see ridership stats for the full year.
