IKEA has officially announced plans to open a new Chantilly store at the site of the Dulles Expo Center. The new retail space is slated to open in the spring of 2026, according to a news release.
New IKEA Store
The space at 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center Dr., Chantilly, will become a 110,000 square-foot retail store with more than 7,700 products on display.
The store will offer home furnishing accessories as well as hundreds of smaller furniture items, with more than 4,400 items available for immediate takeaway. Larger pieces, such as sofas and beds, can be ordered online for free in-store pickup.
“We are thrilled to continue our expansion across the DMV to bring the dream of a better home within reach for more people across the country,” Javier Quiñones, IKEA U.S. CEO and chief sustainability officer said in the release. “The opening of IKEA Chantilly highlights our commitment to bring IKEA closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions.”
The announcement of the full store comes after the company submitted a food permit in July to potentially add a full-service restaurant at the Dulles Expo space.
IKEA has also recently announced that it will close its Arlington plan-and-order store after November 30 and open a new Georgetown store on November 5.
Dulles Expo Closing
Washington Business Journal reported that Dulles Expo Center’s management company began informing event promoters this week that the venue would permanently close at the end of the year. Promoters have been scrambling to find a local space large enough to host future events.
The Dulles Expo Center is currently set to host the DMV Chocolate and Coffee Festival this weekend, followed by the DC Big Flea Market on November 1 and 2. Other 2025 events include both a gem and jewelry and a trains and toys show. A winter art and craft festival is also scheduled for December 12 to 14.
