The Amazon Fresh grocery store located at Sudley Road in Manassas is closing up shop. The store’s last day in business will be this Sunday, March 16.
When it opened in June 2022, the 44,000-square-foot Manassas grocery story was the largest Amazon Fresh location in the U.S.
“Certain store locations work better than others, and after an assessment of our offering we’ve decided to close our Amazon Fresh store in Manassas,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement to Patch. “Customers in the area can continue to shop from a wide selection of grocery products at Amazon.com/grocery with same-day delivery options, or from our other Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market stores in the area. We remain committed to Amazon Fresh and our broader grocery strategy, and will continue to refine our portfolio of stores as we learn which locations and features resonate most with customers.”
Five other Amazon Fresh locations remain open in Northern Virginia. They include stores in Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Franconia, and Lorton.
Amazon says its newest area Amazon Fresh store is still set to open on March 27 in Silver Spring, Maryland. “We remain committed to Amazon Fresh and our broader grocery strategy, and will continue to refine our portfolio of stores as we learn which locations and features resonate most with customers,” a company spokesperson told InsideNOVA.
