Arlington gained a new bookstore and a new restaurant all at once this week. Daydrift, a combination café and bookstore, has opened its doors at 1550 Crystal Dr. in National Landing.
The “breezy, West Coast–inspired” space is across the street from Water Park, where Ma-Ze-Dahr bakery was previously.

The café menu shows a selection of bowls and sandwiches with global inspirations, such as a hummus mezze bowl with roasted cauliflower, sumac carrots, and tabouleh. It also serves coffee beverages, smoothies and juices, and pastries like brownies, muffins, and cinnamon rolls.

Another menu shows off the store’s other offering: books. In categories like literary fiction and poetry, the “menu” outlines hundreds of books that are available at Daydrift.
In addition to the bestsellers and staff picks for sale, Daydrift also plans to offer “blind dates with a book,” a “take a note, leave a note” wall, and monthly book clubs and author talks.
