Silver Diner is set to expand in Prince William County. The restaurant has plans to open a new location in Gainesville, taking over the former location of Out of the Blue Crabs and Seafood.
This will mark Silver Diner’s second location in Prince William County – where it operates at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge – and the Maryland-based chain’s 25th location. The Gainesville location is projected to open in 2026, according to Prince William Times.
While construction hasn’t started, county planning documents show the new location at 5005 Wellington Rd. will feature the Silver Diner’s iconic blue and silver exterior. The location was previously home to Out of the Blue Crabs and Seafood, which closed in October 2024.
“After years of serving the freshest seafood and creating unforgettable memories, we are announcing that we will be closing our doors,” said Out of the Blue Crabs and Seafood in a Facebook post at the time. “We are incredibly grateful for the journey we’ve shared with all of you.”
The 6,800-square-foot seafood restaurant was open for seven years before closing.
