October marks the 37th annual Virginia Wine Month, a celebration of more than 300 wineries across the Commonwealth. From harvest festivals to seasonal tastings, every region is alive with events that invite you to sip, savor, and linger among the vines. This is the season to pair Virginia wines with oysters from the coast or apples fresh from the orchard, to take in mountain views lined with brilliant foliage, and to feel the energy of vineyards at harvest. Whether for a day trip or a weekend escape, Virginia Wine Country shines in October.
Plan Your Adventure
With hundreds of wineries, cideries, and meaderies to explore, Virginia offers something for every taste. Throughout the month, tasting rooms will come alive with music drifting across patios, food pairings that highlight the season, and glasses filled with Virginia wines. Gather friends, chart a course, and celebrate Virginia Wine Month with events that bring people together in every corner of the state.

Explore Virginia Wine Country on the Trails
A perfect way to explore Virginia Wine Country is through the state’s tasting passes, available as free mobile downloads. With each pass, you can access special offerings, stop in at participating wineries and cideries, and check in to earn points that can be redeemed for prizes. The Gold Medal Wine Trail highlights award-winning wines from across the Commonwealth, while the new Norton Wine Trail celebrates Virginia’s oldest grape through tastings that showcase its bold history and character. The Virginia Cider Trail adds yet another layer, bringing over 30 cideries to the mix with styles ranging from crisp and refreshing to rich and complex. Together, these trails create an easy path to discovery throughout Virginia.

Join Harvest Party Celebrations
On Saturday, October 18, the Commonwealth will gather for Harvest Party, a day devoted to celebrating Virginia’s agricultural abundance. Across cities, towns, and the countryside, wineries and restaurants will host dinners under the stars, curated flights, and festive gatherings that showcase the very best of the season.

This fall also brings the release of the fourth edition of Cornus Virginicus. Crafted by King Family Vineyards in partnership with First Lady of Virginia Suzanne S. Youngkin, this limited wine supports Wheatland Farm’s Faith and Family Foundation while honoring Virginia’s farmers and winemakers.
