Find Fresh Produce All Winter at these Year-Round Farmers Markets

You may think of farmers markets as only summer events, but plenty of NoVA’s markets offer seasonal fruits, veggies, and treats all year.

By Maggie Roth December 2, 2025 at 12:05 pm

Winter is approaching, which means many of the fun outdoor activities we enjoy during the warmer months have closed their doors until springtime. Fortunately, farmers markets aren’t one of them.

NoVA is full of year-round farmers markets that continue to provide shoppers with fresh produce and prepared foods — including the Ballston FreshFarm market, which is switching to a year-round model this year.

You may not find the same fruits and veggies that are there at summer markets, but in the place of those warm-weather tomatoes and berries will be hearty winter produce like kale, squash, and sweet potatoes that offer fresh flavor and valuable nutrients. Bundle up and start shopping!
