Ice & Lights: The Winter Village at Cameron Run

If you are heading to Cameron Run Regional Park for the annual lights display, you’ll want to stay for the ice skating. The outdoor rink provides the perfect backdrop for all of your holiday photos and fun. Tickets are only available online. ARLINGTON

MedStar Capitals Iceplex

The Washington Capitals’ practice facility is open to the public for indoor skating on a jumbo rink. Sign up for skating and ice hockey lessons, play a game of pickup hockey, or enjoy daily public skates. 627 N. Glebe Rd., Ste. 800, Arlington, admission $15 

Westpost Outdoor Ice Skating at National Landing

At 7,200 square feet, the plaza at Pentagon Row claims to be the largest outdoor rink in Northern Virginia and the second largest in the state. After skating, enjoy the rink’s dual-sided stone fireplace, shopping, and hot chocolate. Reservations are recommended and are open two weeks in advance. 1201 S. FAIRFAX 

Fairfax Ice Arena

Attend a public skate, book a private lesson, or bring a group to celebrate birthdays and more. The indoor rink is open year-round and welcomes skaters of all skill levels. For those who skate a lot, there is a discount card. Every Saturday in November, Girl Scouts get discounted admission and a free beginner lesson. Reston Town Center Pavilion

SkateQuest

Ashburn Ice House

The Ashburn Ice House features a pro-shop for skating merchandise, and lessons for general skating, hockey, and figure skating.
