ALEXANDRIA

 

Ice & Lights: The Winter Village at Cameron Run 

November 28, 2025–February 28, 2026, times vary
If you are heading to Cameron Run Regional Park for the annual lights display, you’ll want to stay for the ice skating. The outdoor rink provides the perfect backdrop for all of your holiday photos and fun. Tickets are only available online. Cameron Run Regional Park: 4001 Eisenhower Ave., Alexandria, admission starting at $14.82 

ARLINGTON

 

MedStar Capitals Iceplex 

Open daily, times vary
The Washington Capitals’ practice facility is open to the public for indoor skating on a jumbo rink. Sign up for skating and ice hockey lessons, play a game of pickup hockey, or enjoy daily public skates. 627 N. Glebe Rd., Ste. 800, Arlington, admission $15 

Westpost Outdoor Ice Skating at National Landing 

Open daily, times vary
At 7,200 square feet, the plaza at Pentagon Row claims to be the largest outdoor rink in Northern Virginia and the second largest in the state. After skating, enjoy the rink’s dual-sided stone fireplace, shopping, and hot chocolate. Reservations are recommended and are open two weeks in advance. 1201 S. Joyce St., Arlington, admission starting at $11, skate rental $6 

FAIRFAX 

 

Fairfax Ice Arena

Open daily, times vary
Attend a public skate, book a private lesson, or bring a group to celebrate birthdays and more. The indoor rink is open year-round and welcomes skaters of all skill levels. For those who skate a lot, there is a discount card. Every Saturday in November, Girl Scouts get discounted admission and a free beginner lesson. The arena also hosts weekly Themed Public Skate nights, including Taylor Swift-inspired The Life of a Skater and Ugly Holiday Sweater Skate. 3779 Pickett Rd., Fairfax, admission $10–$11, skate rental $4

Reston Town Center Pavilion 

November 7, 2025–March 8, 2026, times vary
Take advantage of the annual freezing of the Pavilion floor. The skate rink is open through March 8 (weather permitting). Guests will need to make a reservation online before arriving at the rink. 1818 Discovery St., Reston, admission $9–$11, skate rental $7

SkateQuest 

Open Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends for public skating, times vary
SkateQuest offers a variety of activities for skaters of all ages and skill levels. With two available rinks (an NHL-sized rink and an Olympic-sized rink), SkateQuest is able to hold hockey, figure skating, and public skating events. 1800 Michael Faraday Ct., Reston, admission $10, skate rental $4

LOUDOUN

 

Ashburn Ice House

Open daily, times vary
The Ashburn Ice House features a pro-shop for skating merchandise, and lessons for general skating, hockey, and figure skating. Along with daily public skate times, the rink hosts special skate events like Rockin’ Skate every Friday night and Playground on Ice for children 2 to 8 years old.  Advance online registration is required for public skate sessions. 21595 Smith Switch Rd., Ashburn, admission starting at $15 

Ion International Training Center 

Open weekends, times vary

Whether you’re looking for something recreational or want to up your skills in the competitive sphere, you can do it at this state-of-the-art facility in Leesburg. From hockey to figure skating to ice dancing, try it here. If you’re not much of a skater, try your hand at the ever-popular curling class. No pre-registration is required for public skates. 19201 Compass Creek Pkwy., Leesburg, admission $13–$15, skate rental $4–$5 

Loudoun Ice Centre

Open Wednesdays–Saturdays, times vary
The Loudoun Ice Centre is open daily for public skating. This rink features a variety of hockey position lessons and holds birthday parties and events. On Cheap Skates days, admission and skate rental is $6. 22149 Davis Dr., Ste. 155, Sterling, admission $8–$9, skate rental $4

PRINCE WILLIAM

 

Harris Pavilion

Open daily November 21, 2025–January 4, 2026 

Enjoy outdoor ice skating at the Harris Pavilion. Online reservations are available. For groups of 10 or more, the price for skating and skates is $13. 9201 Center St., Manassas, admission $8–$10, skate rental $6 

Haymarket IcePlex 

Open daily except Tuesdays, times vary
Skate during public skate nights at this iceplex or sign up for private skating, hockey, or figure skating lessons. Arrive 30 minutes early on weekends to avoid the lines. 15155 Washington St., Haymarket, admission $10, skate rental $4
