The Metropolitan Washington Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has released its annual Metro Rewind to&nbsp;show riders all the stats from their year&nbsp;in&nbsp;public transportation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-find-your-report-nbsp\">Find Your Report&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>WMATA released its third annual Metro Rewind last week. Metro users can input the 20-digit card number into the <a href=\"https:\/\/metrorewind.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Metro Rewind website<\/a> for a chance to see a detailed ridership report\u00a0in a colorful, interactive format.\u00a0New this year, you can add more than one card.\u00a0And this year\u2019s version also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmata.com\/about\/news\/The-2025-edition-of-Metro-Rewind-is-live-Get-your-personalized-Metro-year-in-review.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">includes more data<\/a> and new badges that track \u201ctransit-riding achievements.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report includes:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Number of bus and rail trips&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rides by month&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your longest streak&nbsp;riding Metro&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where you rank among all Metro customers&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Miles traveled on transit&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carbon dioxide emissions&nbsp;saved by taking transit&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Top five Metro rail stations\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How you rank among others who use your top station&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Top five\u00a0Metro\u00a0bus routes\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How you rank among others who use your top route&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Metro archetype&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Option&nbsp;to buy merch for your top station&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dmv-ridership-stats-nbsp\">DMV Ridership Stats&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to\u00a0personalized stats, WMATA also released the Metro Rewind results for\u00a0the entire DMV\u00a0area. Altogether, there were 256,846,000 trips \u2014 142,093,000\u00a0by\u00a0rail and\u00a0114,753,000\u00a0by bus.\u00a0WMATA says that Metro ridership increased more than 6 percent year over year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metro riders travelled&nbsp;1,062,962,000 miles&nbsp;in 2025, saving&nbsp;327,392,000 kilograms&nbsp;of carbon&nbsp;by choosing public transportation over driving or&nbsp;ride-sharing, according to WMATA. The most popular station was Union Station.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>April was the busiest month, with 24,868,000 trips; March 27 was the busiest day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For both the personalized and overall stats, the data was collected from January 1 to December 5.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0earlier than\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0been released in prior years, so some stats may appear lower, according to WMATA.
