{"id":529332,"date":"2025-12-03T12:58:33","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/?p=529332"},"modified":"2025-12-03T12:58:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:58:35","slug":"stellina-pizzeria-named-one-of-the-best-pizza-chains-in-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/food-and-drink\/food-news\/2025\/12\/03\/stellina-pizzeria-named-one-of-the-best-pizza-chains-in-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Stellina Pizzeria Named One of the Best Pizza Chains in the World"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Northern Virginia\u2019s pizza scene is getting worldwide recognition. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellinapizzeria.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stellina Pizzeria<\/a> was recently named one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.50toppizza.it\/50-top-world-artisan-pizza-chains-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Top Artisan Pizza Chains in the world<\/a> by the international guide 50 Top Pizza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the <a href=\"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/food-and-drink\/2024\/12\/04\/stellina-pizzeria-named-among-the-top-artisan-pizza-chains-in-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second year in a row<\/a> the local chain has made the list. Stellina came in at No. 24 out of 50 \u2014 climbing 16 spots from last year\u2019s ranking at No. 40.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known for its neo-Neapolitan pizza, diners can expect light and crispy crusts thanks to the pizzeria\u2019s 72-hour fermentation process. When it comes to the taste test, 50 Top Pizza recommends The Margherita: \u201cThe Margherita is a highlight of the menu: essential, balanced, with a fragrant crust and a perfect ratio of sauce, mozzarella, and basil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/stellinapizzeriaowners.webp\" alt=\"Owners of Stellina Pizzeria, Antonio Matarazzo and Matteo Venini\" class=\"wp-image-529334\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Stellina Pizzeria owners Antonio Matarazzo and Matteo Venini (Photo by Anastasia Markova)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When Stellina made <em>Northern Virginia Magazine<\/em>\u2019s list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/food-and-drink\/2024\/01\/12\/best-pizza-northern-virginia\/\">18 Best Pizzerias in Northern Virginia<\/a>, food critic Alice Levitt recommended the Affumicata, \u201cwith its smoked mozzarella and cherry tomatoes, salty speck, dry fig, and drizzle of balsamic reduction. It\u2019s as revelatory as it is smoky.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stellina has locations in Arlington, Tysons Corner, and Washington, DC. It was also named the recipient of the La Gioiosa Award for the pizzeria with the best wine list.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, 50 Top Pizza also announced that Arlington\u2019s A Modo Mio was named to the <a href=\"https:\/\/northernvirginiamag.com\/food-and-drink\/food-news\/2025\/07\/10\/this-arlington-pizzeria-was-named-one-of-the-top-50-in-the-u-s\/\">50 Top Pizzerias in the U.S.<\/a> This was the eatery\u2019s second time in three years making the best pizzeria list.
