Artificial intelligence is becoming more prevalent in our daily lives, especially in schools. Prince William County Public Schools<\/a> (PWCS) and Fairfax County Public Schools<\/a> (FCPS) are part of the first cohort of schools to use OpenAI\u2019s new tool for K-12 educators, ChatGPT for Teachers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two Northern Virginia school districts join 14 other schools across the nation who have joined this first-ever cohort. ChatGPT for Teachers will provide staff with personalized teaching support, help creating lesson plans, and collaboration with other teachers. The trial run gives teachers and staff free access to the program through June 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 16 participating school districts will help guide how ChatGPT for Teachers will be rolled out to the rest of the U.S. in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By working with OpenAI and empowering our educators with innovative tools like ChatGPT for Teachers, we ensure our educators remain at the forefront of educational innovation \u2014 ready to embrace new trends and guide our students into the future,\u201d said PWCS Superintendent LaTanya D. McDade<\/a>, in a recent press release<\/a>. \u201cOur educators are creating learning environments that mirror the world our students navigate, equipping them to succeed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the next year and a half, PWCS plans to train staff on how to effectively use the platform. It will also evaluate its effectiveness for its educators.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAI will never replace the heart of teaching or the human connections that are foundational to the high-quality education we provide all our students,\u201d said FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid in a recent press release<\/a>. \u201cBut AI can remove barriers, save time, and open doors to new ideas and spark innovation in the classroom and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
