At the Galilee Christian School, playing is the best way to learn. Galilee’s curriculum takes the play-based preschool foundation and integrates it with Virginia Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS), Purdue University’s Early Learning Matters curriculum, and the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness program.

This powerful combination allows for every student to receive a strong foundation in early literacy, numeracy, fine motor, and cognitive and physical development. With the understanding that children develop at different paces, the school and its staff believe in scaffolded learning — a teaching approach that meets children right where they are and gently guides them to the next level of learning.

With play at the heart of every day, the teachers are able to place a strong emphasis on social-emotional development which organically helps children build confidence, empathy, and friendships. Their program fosters learning in a supportive environment where the daily goal is that every child feels seen, heard, and valued. From the twos class all the way through pre-K, they believe in creating a joyful space where curiosity is encouraged.

One of the things that makes Galilee stand out among other preschools is the opportunity for education, play, top-notch care, and enrichment throughout the day. Many of the families take advantage of their 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. availability. Once the full day preschool experience ends at 3 p.m., extended day participants have access to a fully equipped game room, art supplies, a full gym, and an outdoor play area. Many are reunited with their older siblings who arrive from elementary school to stay until their parent’s workday ends. Galilee is home before home for working families!
