5 Places to Take Beginner Tennis Lessons in Northern Virginia  

It’s never too late to try your hand at a new hobby.

Getting involved in a new sport can be intimidating as an adult. When life gets busy, it can feel impossible to find time to learn a new skill set. These 5 fitness locations in NoVA offer beginner tennis lessons so you can enjoy the sport no matter your age or skill level. 

Reston Association  

With over 50 outdoor courts throughout Reston, the Reston Association is the perfect option for those looking to get introduced to the sport. Group lessons are offered ranging from beginner to intermediate with openings for Reston Association members and nonmembers. Beginner lessons introduce members to serving, volleying, forehands, and backhands. Each lesson is led by a Reston Tennis pro and typically lasts an hour twice a week. Multiple locations in Reston, group lessons start at $155 for Reston Association members and $175 for nonmembers 

Fairfax Racquet Club  

Fairfax Racquet Club offers both private and group lessons for groups of 4 or more at all skillsets. Guests can get a group of friends together or request to be placed in a class. Lessons at the racquet club are available for members of the club or guests at an extra charge. 9860 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax, starting at $270 for eight-week group lessons, additional fees may apply for nonmembers 

Ida Lee Park  

This Leesburg tennis center offers five different lesson levels. Lessons are once a week for a four-week session with indoor and outdoor options so you can avoid or embrace the summer heat. If you don’t have time to commit to a month-long class, check out the single-session tennis workout offerings work on cardio, conditioning, and strategy. 60 Ida Lee Dr. NW, Leesburg, starting at $122 per person for four-week group lessons 

Audrey Moore Rec Center  

Get a comprehensive introduction to the classic sport at any time of the year with these lessons. Classes are held year-round on one of Wakefield Park’s 11 outdoor courts with levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Private lessons are also available, so you can refine your skills. Tennis courts are open to the public and are available at a first-come first-served basis or with a reservation. Wakefield Park: 8100 Braddock Rd., Annandale, $133–$152 for eight-week group lessons 

Arlington County  

Whether you are brand new to tennis or are trying to refine forgotten skills, Arlington County has a wide range of lesson options for everyone. These classes provide guests the opportunity to learn, improve, or challenge their skills. Classes are hosted at various court locations throughout the county, with options available on weeknights, weekdays, and weekends. Sessions typically run weekly for four to nine weeks. Multiple locations in Arlington, group lessons start at $245 for residents of Arlington County and $265 for nonresidents
