Each year on Veterans Day, communities across Northern Virginia pause to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform. From solemn wreath-layings to family-friendly parades, there are plenty of ways to reflect, participate, and honor veterans across the region. Here are nine notable events to mark the day.
Northern Virginia Veterans Parade
November 1, 11 a.m.
Now in its 17th year, the Northern Virginia Veterans Parade is a local tradition — and a perfect way for families to come together in tribute. The route follows Center Street and passes the reviewing stand at Harris Pavilion, with marching units, veterans’ organizations, community floats, and plenty of flags waving. Veterans Day Parade
November 9, 11 a.m.
The annual Veterans Day Parade through the nation’s capital features veterans’ organizations, floats, specialty vehicles, and marching bands. Opening ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. at the National Archives, and the parade kicks off at noon along Constitution Avenue, honoring those who have served and sacrificed. Free Admission for Veterans to Mount Vernon
Tuesday, November 11
Veterans and active-duty service members receive free admission to George Washington’s historic estate on Veterans Day. The day’s program includes musical performances, history presentations, a floral tribute, and a concert by the United States Air Force Strings. Veterans Day at the WWII Memorial
November 11, 10 a.m.
World War II veterans will place wreaths at the Memorial’s Freedom Wall, paying tribute to their fallen brothers and sisters. Air Force Veterans Day Ceremony
November 11, 11 a.m.

Arlington National Cemetery Remembrance Ceremony
November 11, 11 a.m.

City of Falls Church Veterans Day Ceremony
November 11, 11 a.m.
The City of Falls Church honors all who have served with an annual ceremony hosted by the Greater Falls Church Veterans Council. Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Navy Memorial
November 11, 12:30 p.m.
Featuring the U.S. Navy Band and U.S. Ceremonial Guard, this annual public ceremony pays tribute to all who have served in the nation’s Sea Services. Military Women’s Memorial
