What’s New at the Mosaic District? Keep an Eye Out for These 3 Spots

The shopping and dining destination has two new eateries to try, plus a third that’s set to open soon.

In Merrifield, the Mosaic District is the place to be when you’re looking for an opportunity to window shop some luxury clothing brands and find a bite to eat. The mixed-use development has plenty of options for food and beverages, from fast-casual bites like Rasa to Kirby Club, one of our 50 Best Restaurants of 2023.

Located in Merrifield on District Avenue, the Mosaic District is always changing to bring customers new, fresh dining options. Check out these two new eateries that have recently opened in Mosaic, plus one that has plans to open later this year.

Now Open:

Te’Amo Boba Bar

This new bubble tea and dessert spot recently opened in Mosaic, on the ground floor of the Vantage Apartment buildings. The Chicago-based chain offers teas, including milk teas, loose-leaf tea, boba, smoothies, and lemonades. Guests will find desserts like coconut panna cotta jars, mochi doughnuts, crêpe cakes, and strawberry shortcake cups. The new store, next to the Pastry Xpo, held a soft opening on August 19 and a grand opening on August 24.

Falafel Inc.

The region’s go-to spot for low-cost falafel and pitas opened another NoVA outpost in May. The DMV-area chain is known for its falafel sandwiches and bowls, which sell for less than $10 each. There are also locations in Old Town Alexandria, Tysons Corner Center, and National Landing.

Coming Soon:

The Salty Donut

This Miami-based doughnut shop has plans to open up a new space in Mosaic in late 2024, FFXNow reports. This location will be the first Salty Donut outpost in the DMV area. The shop will offer coffee and artisanal doughnuts in inventive flavors. Existing locations feature creations such as guava and cheese, strawberry shortcake, passion fruit and coconut, and mango creamsicle on the menus.
