On The Market: A 19th Century Markham Cabin for $1M

This 19th century home blends historic cabin charm with modern features on a 34-acre oasis.

In Fauquier County, this cozy, historic cabin is now for sale. The home at 3225 Sage Rd., Markham, was constructed in 1850 with materials from the property. Its foundation, chimney, and patio were crafted with stones from the nearby ridges, and the braces of the home were built with hand-hewn chestnut wood from trees from surrounding trees.

This historic home has only had four owners since its construction. While original charming features have been preserved over time, several additions and modern updates have been added to the now 2,397-square-foot home. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house is currently on the market for $999,000.

Step inside from the spacious porch and you’ll find a sitting room full of natural light. The additions and updates that took place throughout the home’s history allowed for new, modern features in the living space like recessed lighting and updated wood floors.

The kitchen features a six-burner Viking range and stainless steel appliances. Along with the modern add-ons, the exposed beams, brick flooring, and textured walls preserve the original charm of the 19th-century home.
