Friends to Lovers Officially Reopens in Old Town Alexandria

The romance bookstore was forced to close last year shortly after its opening because of damage from a fire.

The region’s first romance bookstore is open once again. Friends to Lovers reopened its doors, welcoming book lovers to its brand-new location in Old Town Alexandria.

Now located at 301 Cameron St., the permanent, first-floor location gives shoppers more space to explore new titles, plus a cozy seating area where you can start diving into your new reads. Customers can still expect to find the latest romance titles and other merchandise, including hats, shirts, bookmarks, and stickers.

The original Friends to Lovers location was open less than a week before an accidental fire forced the bookstore and two other local businesses to close in November 2024. The store was able to host various pop-up shops across Alexandria during the holiday season before announcing its new permanent location this spring.

And even though the bookstore just reopened, it’s already got several events planned. In the coming weeks, Friends to Lovers will be hosting multiple book signing and release party events at the Alexandria storefront. They include The Witch of Wall Street release party on April 12, Camp Romance with authors Jenna Voris and Ava Wilder on April 18, and an author talk and book signing with Falling for the Competition author Darby Baham on April 19.
